First Cycle IVF

#1

Hello everyone. I am new to the web site so forgive me if this does not post correctly. I am 39 years old and my husband in 38. We were blessed with a beautiful baby girl who is now 9. It took us 3 years to conceive her naturally and have not been able to get pregnant ever since. I feel that my time is running out. I will turn 40 in August. My husband and I decided to see a fertility specialist and go straight to IVF. I started Lupron injections on Nov. 2nd and am scheduled for Gonal-f and Menopure for Nov. 18th. I am new to this process and admire each one of you who has gone through this more than once. Each days seems like an eternity. If all goes well, , we are scheduled for retrieval Nov. 27th and transfer Nov. 30th. Is anyone else on the same schedule? It would be nice to share experiences.

hi angie & caz - welcome

hi Angie -

I just did 1st IVF cycle, am 39, and partner has bad tubes so we had to do sperm retrieval and use his frozen sperm for fertilization…which is actually happening right now. had my ER this morning. The shots are not too bad, so think positive and hang tough. I have ET hopefully Sat. and then the 2ww, finding out on Thxgiving (if you can believe that) if we are pregnant.

i don’t really know how to use the site either but the posts are really supportive and encouraging. There are lots of us out there who are older and can get preggers…good luck! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

I will be praying for the two of you  . Hope all goes well. A positive test will definitely give you an even more reason to be thankful on Thanksgiving Day. Good luck and keep me posted.

Hi Poppy!

Hope all went well the ET. I had my u/s this morning to see how many follicles I had. It was very disappointing. Only 2 follicles. Doctor wants me to continue on same meds and wants to see me on Sunday. I  a few more follicles develop because the chances are better when you have more follicles. I am so scared that I have gone through all of this and for it not to work. Sorry, I just needed to vent. My husband keeps encouraging me by telling me all it takes is one. I wish I could be as positive as him :(. Well, I hope you get good news on Thanksgiving Day. Take care!
