My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost 3 years now and our first RE appt is dec 3rd! I just wanted to see if anyone had any advice like questions to ask, etc? Thanks for any help!
I had a really quiet Dr. that kept his assumptions in his head. Even if they are guesses before testing, I’d still like to know them. If your Dr. is quiet when doing an ultrasound, I would ask, “do you see anything blocking or anything that looks abnormal?”, or during a physical ask, “is there anything with my overall health that would relate to infertility?”. It took me going to another specialist, to start hearing explanations and want you to avoid that.
Also, if your Dr. says a term that you are not familiar with (infertility has it’s own language of terms and abbreviations) don’t be afraid to ask, “can you explain that to me?”.
I’m sure others have some good questions. Good luck on your first appointment! Hoping your Dr. is intuitive and helpful, and that the news is hopeful!
Thanks so much! I’m Hoping it’s just an ovulation thing but I think it could be both that and a subseptate uterus. It’s killing me waiting this long! But I’m trying to be as prepared as I can be.
You’re welcome! I’m sure Dec. 3rd can’t come soon enough. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry it’s a little late but hope you had a great thanksgiving! And yes, just trying to keep busy until then!
Thank you! It was really nice. Usually filled with tons of family, but since we moved states this year, it was just my husband and I. It was perfect though. Finally made my first turkey in my 30’s because one of our Moms always does it. I grew up! haha
Hope yours was great too! Only 2 more days for you…
Erica_c1990: I was wondering how your first RE appointment went? Did you have any good results or answers? The testing isn’t a fun experience. I personally didn’t really get solid answers other than my AMH being below normal. We weren’t able to determine why it’s so low unfortunately. My RE is great about answering all of my questions though. I hope you found a good one!
Well I was told that I do have a polyp in my uterus, a subseptate uterus and probably am not ovulating, or not very often. And they said my hormones and everything look normal. So I’m going to schedule surgery in a couple weeks and go from there I guess .
And yes I think my RE is pretty awesome and he does explain things very well too.
I’m glad you were able to get some answers and that you now have a plan. I hope that everything goes smoothly for you!
