Well, I just finished my fourth round of Clomid and didn’t ovulate. I was at 150mg. I am now being referred on to an infertility specialist… My husband and I have our first appointment on Jan 18th.

I’m not sure yet if I’ll still be taking Clomid or if there will be something else to try… Guess I’ll see what they say on the 18th!

That is the same as me. I am now on my 4th round, we RE this time. We are doing 200 mg for 7 days and then possibly doing an Ovidrel trigger shot if there are mature eggs. If no follicle growth then we will go to HCG injections with an Ovidrel trigger shot. Go in for my ultrasound on the 19th so I will keep you posted on how that goes!

Good luck! I think you will have better luck with a RE instead of the OB!

Did you have regular cycle lengths with the anovulatory clomid cycles? I just finished my second unsuccessful cycle the first being 17days the second 19 days.

My thoughts

Hey, my OB never even tempted to try to help with our infertility and she suggested an infertility specialist an hour away, so last year when she suggested I go there after a year and a half of trying naturally, I’m so glad we did!
I’m not sure if your OB did all the same tests most fertility dr.s do but they should check to be sure your tubes are clear as some get blocked with scar tissue from past pregnancies or just how thier bodies work, they should do bloodwork to make sure no one has any STD/HIV where some STDs can cause infertility in males and females. You should get some monitoring with ultrasounds to make sure you ovulate and produce eggs and then when on meds, they should monitor with ultrasounds and/or bloodwork (I just had u/s to see if the Clomid worked) as it all depends on your infertilty condition. Mine was a male factor so we didn’t wait on trying naturally with meds, we went straight to an IUI since our male factor was morphology.
We were one of the lucky ones where it worked on the first try, but I also have no issues or pcos, etc where others it may be different.

So I just wanted to say, every fertility dr is different, but do your best to know your exact issues, lots of monitoring is best, ask a lot of questions and do your best to stay healthy, taking a prenatal and thinking positive!! We’re all here to support everyone and wish you all the best. I know I would have went insane without this site!
PS-my insurance does not cover any of my fertilty treatments so yes, I paid out of pocket but compared to IVF, it was worth it and not all that much. My IUI itself was $400 with the HCG trigger shot being $100, not including all the tests/ultrasounds, etc. It is affordable!

Wishing you :bsv: !!! GL with the fertility specialist.
