Second Round Clomid Success & Suggestions??

#1

Hey All Clomid Buddies…

So I did my first round of 50mg of Clomid Feb. 28th (CD3-7) and ovulated on CD21 - 14 days after my last pill. Does this seem late to anyone else… a lot of people say it happens within 5-12 days… but I don’t know if 14 days is too late? My total cycle length for this cycle was 35 days.

I had my blood drawn on CD24 for progesterone and that came back with a level of 28.2 - so they were happy with that, saying I indeed did ovulate - so there was no need to bump me up to 100mg.

Then the TTW came and AF showed up after a luteal phase of 13-14 days so BFN for my first round of Clomid.

I am now CD2 and due to start Clomid again tomorrow and hope for the best. Looking for success stories for second round and what everyone’s Progesterone level was at at time of testing… I was really hoping and expecting a BFP after the first round and when that didn’t happen I was really depressed about it.

Also ‘aids’ we used along with Clomid
-Metformin 1500mg/day (I am thin however so I don’t exactly know why I am on this - but it can’t hurt from what I understand)
-Pre-Seed everytime we BDed
-Robitussin to thin CM
-We BDed everyday for 4 days surrounding O day

For this cycle I am going to continue the above but also try the soft cups. Any other suggestions for what we can do to maximize our chances?

Thanks!

I have 3 dd’s My first was on the 3rd round of Clomid. My twins were on the 2nd. I can remember my progesterone but I think it was in the 30’s both times. My doc said you have better eggs if you O before day CD18-19. So i’m not sure about cd21. My second round and third rounds, I O’d on day 14. The first one was closer to 19. Hope this helps. Good luck :cross:

Later ovulation is very common with clomid so no worries there. Also, your CD 21 Progesterone is robust and looks great. Your ovulation was good. Sometimes it just takes a couple cycles. I was on the clomid thread for two years and from my experience those that the clomid works for get pregnant within 6 ovulatory cycles with the majority of those in the first 4 so hang in there. It is only a matter of time. :flower:

Sending you lots of :babydust: :babydust: !!!

I am also starting my 2nd round of clomid (tonight was CD 3 and 1st pill). My 1st cycle I used provera to start :af: , then clomid 50mg CD3-7. On CD11 I went in for US and had 2 follicles ready to go so had trigger shot. On CD20 I had progesterone checked and it was 25 (they said it would have been higher on CD21 - weekend) so they were also happy. However, on CD24 - my :af: came back with a vengance. I met with my doctor today who said they were really surprised that my AF came so soon (?early miscarriage, etc?). They want me to start again tonight (CD3) on clomid 50mg and I f/u next Friday for follicle check. it works this time. She said if AF comes again early she might need to send me to fertility specialist (right now just seeing a specialist at my OB/GYN.

It is very frustrating. I really felt pregnant this time and even had people ask if I was (b/c I was so bloated). While sitting in the office waiting to see the doctor today I swear everyone there was not only pregnant, but ready to deliver. It really took everything in my powers not to leave a comment card to recommend having a NON-PG waiting room… Heehee. J/K.
